Congregational Courtesies

In order to maintain a respectful atmosphere to ensure the comfort of all our congregants, we request the following:

  • Kindly greet someone you don’t know with “Shabbat Shalom” or other appropriate salutation.
  • Men are required to wear a kippah (head covering) in the sanctuary. It is also customary that males past Bar Mitzvah age wear tallitot during Shabbat morning services.
  • Women may choose to don kipot and/or tallitot.
  • Please do not place prayer books or Chumashim (bibles) on the floor. It would be appreciated if you would return them to the book case in the atrium.
  • Smoking is prohibited on the synagogue premises. Additionally, in honor of Shabbat we ask that no one smoke near the synagogue on Friday evening, Saturday or during holidays.
  • Photography/videography is prohibited on Shabbat and holidays. The office can arrange to record your simcha with an unattended recorder upon request.
  • In respect of Shabbat and fellow congregants kindly refrain from writing and using of electronic devices on synagogue premises Friday evening through Saturday evening.
